It occurred to me recently that this site could offer something a lot more useful than just plain reviews. There are bunches of sites out there now that do reviews, and looking through them can be a great way to discover some beautiful themes you haven’t come across.
The one thing review sites (including this one, up till now) are really missing, though, is context. Certainly you can use a given them for many different types of projects, but I find that I spend a lot of time discovering themes I really don’t have a use for. I literally have a “Themes in search of a project” folder in my bookmarks. So how about a different way of reviewing?
Here’s what I’m thinking: instead of starting with the theme, and trying to find a project to use it on, why not start with a project that needs a good theme and see what the options are?
Of course, this still won’t directly apply to everyone immediately, because your project won’t be just like anyone else’s, but over time we’ll grow a library of solutions that will be useful for a wide range of needs.
More importantly (to you), you can ask me to find themes for your projects! Using that request form, you can tell me what kind of theme you’re looking for, and the requests I get will be the basis of future theme missions.
I hope these posts will be helpful to you, and always welcome your comments and suggestions in the comments.
